Background:

When people think of salt in relation to crops, the impression is that salt is bad for plant growth. However, it must be remembered that whenever we apply fertilizer, we are adding salt to the soil. So, when measuring soil salt, it can be a case of too much or too little. If the salinity is too high, the roots cannot absorb water. If the salinity is too low, the plants may lack nutrients. This is especially important for indoor operations using growing media with little or no natural fertility. soil salinity sensor can help people monitor well.

For routine measurements, it is impractical to actually measure salt content in irrigated water or soil. Fortunately, electrical conductivity (EC) can be used as a proxy for salt content. EC is a measure of the electrical conductivity of aqueous solution. It is affected by salt concentration and temperature. The most commonly used EC units are mS/cm, μS/cm, and dS/m.
Making an EC measurement is simply a function of dipping two electrodes into the sample, applying a voltage, and measuring the response. And then convert that to electrical conductivity. All EC meters can take measurements in water or soil grout. Others have electrodes mounted on sturdy probe tips that can be inserted directly into the soil. These probes can be used for sampling directly through the soil profile or for near-surface measurements in a greenhouse seedling tray.Tracking salinity is an important aspect of any nutrient management plan. Portable EC meters/probes are a convenient and cost-effective way to ensure you maintain a healthy root zone.

soil EC sensor
Soil EC sensor and characteristics

The soil conductivity sensor adopts the international new generation FDR measurement method, with an accuracy of less than 3%; using electromagnetic non-contact measurement method, the soil EC sensor will not drift over time, which greatly improves the stability of the product and extends The service life.

(1)High protection performance: the use of epoxy resin vacuum filling, high-density epoxy resin is used for high-temperature vacuum filling between the probe and the main body, which can prevent moisture from entering the main body and has better sealing performance. In addition to the assembly part, we also conduct waterproof and dust-proof treatments on the entire body to ensure long-term operation of the components.
(2)Probe: The soil conductivity sensor uses austenitic 316 stainless steel as the raw material for the probe parts. It has the properties of anti-rust, electrolysis and salt-alkali corrosion resistance, thus ensuring the long-term operation of the probe parts. Therefore, it is suitable for various soils.
(3)Internal structure: low power consumption and high sensitivity chip, the soil conductivity sensor uses high-quality chips inside, low power consumption, high sensitivity, and stable signal.

5 in 1 integrated soil sensor

The soil integrated sensor (5 in 1 soil sensor) is a soil integrated sensor independently developed by the company, which can simultaneously monitor soil temperature, soil moisture, soil pH, soil electrical conductivity (EC), soil nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), Potassium (K). The 5 in 1 soil sensor adopts the international new generation TDR measurement method, and the detection accuracy can reach within 3%; the special metal probe greatly prolongs the service life of the product.
