Introduction to common weather stations
Background:
A weather station is a group of instruments that measure atmospheric conditions to help study weather and climate in a particular location. Most weather stations will measure temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, and rainfall. Official weather stations are used for aviation, military and meteorological purposes, while individual home weather stations are used for private or in some cases research purposes. Weather enthusiasts, farmers and schools are the most common owners of personal weather stations.
Why do you need a weather station?
Weather stations can help you prepare for future weather and provide localized reports, sometimes even more accurate than weather apps, which may receive data from weather stations miles from your location. Below we’ve listed some potential reasons why a weather station might be useful.
Use it to learn more about the weather and climate where you live.
You live in a remote area and there are no official weather stations nearby.
You are a gardener or farmer and need to know when to plant and harvest.
You can use data to trigger smart home devices.
If your business relies on weather, you can optimize your business to operate more efficiently based on observed weather conditions.
Most commonly, you will find the following instruments in weather stations.
Thermometer: A thermometer measures the temperature of the air around the station. Most weather stations have two thermometers, one inside the display console to record the indoor temperature and one in the sensor housing for the outside temperature.
Hygrometer: A hygrometer measures the amount of moisture in the air, called humidity. Likewise, most weather stations will have two, one in the display console and one in the sensor housing.
Anemometer: An anemometer measures wind speed. There are two most common methods. One measures wind through the rotation of a cup-shaped device on the sensor housing, and the other uses sonic technology to measure wind through openings in the instrument itself.
Wind vane: The wind vane measures the direction of the wind. The wind vane points in the direction the wind is blowing. Sonic anemometers can also detect wind direction using the same concept used to measure wind speed.
Leaf Moisture Sensor: The Leaf Moisture Sensor approximates the moisture content of the leaf surface and helps in gardening and farming.
Soil Moisture Sensor: A soil moisture sensor detects the amount of moisture available in the soil. Some can also record soil temperature. These sensors are necessary for successful irrigation decisions in agriculture and horticulture.
Air Quality Sensors: With many consumers increasingly concerned about pollution, some weather station manufacturers now include the option to add air quality sensors to high-end models to measure particulate matter.
Agricultural Climate/ Weather/ Environment Station-Smart Farming
The farmland environment automatic monitoring station is composed of seven main parts: monitoring platform, acquisition system, communication system, sensor system, power supply system, real scene monitoring system and mechanical installation system. The weather station can combine the actual landscape measurement and LED display, and measure the air temperature and humidity, wind direction, wind speed, rainfall, soil temperature, soil moisture, light intensity, atmospheric pressure and other meteorological environmental elements at the same time. Adopting an open and friendly design concept, users can change element components and module cooperation by themselves, and quickly realize the change and expansion of data collection and processing methods and observation elements.
Weather Monitoring System-Portable Weather Station
Portable weather station can continuously and automatically monitor temperature and humidity, PM2.5, PM10, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, wind direction, noise, rainfall, soil, evaporation, SO2, no, O3, CO and other real-time changes, quickly and accurately collect and process monitoring data, online automatic monitoring of regional air quality, Portable weather station…
